Speaker Bios: 

Marie Ellis, Minnesota Council of Nonprofits
Marie serves the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits as a senior advisor for policy and impact. In this role, Marie supports MCN’s work to advance public policy initiatives that strengthen the nonprofit sector across the state. Marie is committed to continuing MCN’s work to review laws that impact nonprofits through lenses of equity and advocate for reform where needed. She wears the badge of “nonprofit nerd” with great pride. Marie has been working in public policy for two decades, both in government and as a advocate through multiple nonprofits. Originally from Saint Cloud, Marie has a B.A. in Religion from Concordia College in Moorhead and a law degree from the University of Saint Thomas School of Law.

Adam Goehring, Baker Tilly
Adam is the team leader of Baker Tilly’s Minneapolis private wealth practice. With more than 20 years of experience, Adam works with high-net-worth individuals, trusts and privately held businesses (the family enterprise) in the areas of tax planning, mergers and acquisitions consulting, business succession planning and family wealth transfer planning. He works to provide multiple solutions for his clients and is a conduit to Baker Tilly’s varied service offerings.

John Kirchner, U.S. Chamber
John represents the U.S. Chamber throughout the states of Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. He helps develop and implement the Chamber’s grassroots, legislative, and political activities in the area. In addition, he works closely with state and local chambers, as well as with members of Congress in his region to further the legislative priorities of the Chamber. Previously, John spent eight years as public relations manager at Marvin Windows and Doors, leading the company’s public affairs and corporate communications efforts. Before that, he was the political director for the Minnesota Republican Party.
