Construction crews have been working during the overnight hours to set-up a new traffic pattern that moves traffic towards the center median on both northbound and southbound I-35W. This work is anticipated to continue throughout the week and be complete by Sat, April 6.

Motorists will continue to have two driving lanes and one MnPASS lane on both NB and SB I-35W.

Upcoming overnight lane closures
There are a couple overnight lane closures that motorists should be aware of if they are traveling in the area during the NCAA tournament.

Beginning 7 p.m. Thu, April 4 through 6 a.m. Fri, April 5, I-35W will have alternating overnight lane closures in both directions between Cliff Rd. in Burnsville and 106th St. in Bloomington. Please note that after 10 p.m. I-35W will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in the project area.

The same lane closures will also be in place starting 7 p.m. Fri, April 5 through 6 a.m. Sat, April 6.
Generally, overnight work is possible from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily, Sunday through Thursday, through fall 2019.

Residents that live near the Minnesota River Bridge may notice an increase in nighttime noise beginning Mon, April 8, when crews begin removing the existing I-35W pavement from sections of the road that are behind the construction barriers.

Please continue to drive safe through the project area to keep yourself and our crews safe during construction. Watch for equipment and trucks coming in and out of the construction zone.

Upcoming ramp closure near the project area
Beginning Mon, April 8, the ramp from Burnsville Pkwy. to NB I-35W will be closed through early summer 2019 while construction crews add an HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) lane. Please use alternate routes during the time or follow the signed detour route.
