Nighttime work for pavement removals
Residents that live near the Minnesota River Bridge may notice an increase in nighttime noise as crews continue prepping for an early April traffic switch then complete pavement removals on both sides of the river.
Right now overnight work is possible from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily, Sunday through Thursday
, through fall 2019. We will update you if the schedule changes as this work progresses.
During this time, I-35W will have alternating lane closures in both directions between Cliff Rd. in Burnsville and 106th St. in Bloomington. Please note that after 10 p.m. I-35W may be reduced to a single lane of traffic in the project area.
Upcoming brief overnight I-35W closures
Between 12:01 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Fri, March 29
, all I-35W traffic in both directions will be stopped for 15 minutes at a time to allow construction crews to remove an overhead sign within the project area.
I-35W traffic in both directions will also be stopped for 15 minutes at a time between 12:01 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Sun, March 31, to allow Xcel Energy to remove a power line that runs across the Interstate.
Current ramp closures
The following ramps will remain closed through fall 2019, even after the Mississippi River water level goes down:
- Loop ramp from Black Dog Rd. to northbound I-35W
- Follow the detour using southbound I-35W, Hwy 13 and NB I-35W
- NB I-35W ramp to Black Dog Rd.
